Soap Opera Ratings Rise; ‘Katie’ Plunging

Recent reports prove that the soap opera genre is far from endangered. There are four remaining daytime dramas which include ABC’s General Hospital, CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless, and NBC’s Days of our Lives. Ratings prove that these shows surpass those of the talk shows the replaced the late great soaps from ABC, One Life to Live and All My Children.

General Hospital fans will rejoice at the news that GH reels in more viewers in the target demographic of women age 25-54 than the show it had to move time slot for, Katie Couric. Katie’s ratings aren’t doing as well as anticipated, as General Hospital’s ratings soar. For a full article regarding this topic please click here.

A Real Life General Hospital in Development at ABC

Is there room in Daytime TV for a real life version of General Hospital?

ABC has an untitled show in the works that consists of actual doctors and nurses filmed at a hospital in Las Angeles. They will focus on the personal as well as professional lives of these hospital workers.

Officials say that it is in the early stages of production and is either for syndication of a cable show.

General Hospital Ratings Hit Two Year High

Congratulations to General Hospital for hitting the highest ratings in two years! The soap opera hit #1 for women 19-34.

ABC itself is #1 in Daytime TV, with contributions from the success of GH.

I am so excited for General Hospital and have high hopes for it’s longevity and future. Keep up the good work!
