Real Life Soap Opera Drama: Prospect Park Files Lawsuit with ABC

There has been an ongoing battle between the production company that is re-launching the online soaps All My Children and One Life to Live with ABC. News reports today stated that Prospect Park is suing ABC for 25 million dollars over the licensing agreement they had with ABC regarding the actors and character names from All My Children and One Life to Live. The main issues were heated in previous months regarding the status of the three OLTL characters General Hospital “borrowed” from Prospect Park. After the announcement last week that Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning), Michael Easton (ex-John McBain/Caleb Morley/Stephen Clay), and Roger Howarth (ex-Todd Manning) would be returning to GH May 10th 2013, most likely as new characters, the situation went up in flames. Prospect Park claims that the agreement stated that ABC could borrow seven OLTL characters for General Hospital to keep them employed and appear sparingly on GH.

Prospect Park has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against ABC, complaining that they have broken the licensing agreement and have been trying to sabotage the production process for the AMC and OLTL online series. Prospect Park claims that “in the ultimate act of bad faith, ABC inexplicably killed off two OLTL characters on loan to GH by having their car forced off a cliff. ABC effectively killed off another major OLTL character, who was not licensed to ABC, revealing that this long standing OLTL character is in fact another character (alter ego) on GH.”

Prospect Park accuses an ABC executive of openly wishing All My Children and One Life to Live’s relaunch to fail.

The process of the lawsuit and Prospect Park’s request to go to trial with have no baring on the launch date for these two online soaps. They remain to launch next week, April 29th, 2013.

Who is Alexander Quartermaine?

Word out on the street is that Roger Howarth (ex-Todd Manning OLTL and GH) will return to General Hospital as Alexander Quartermaine. Due to the legal restrictions with the name Todd Manning, Howarth will not be returning to General Hospital as his previous character, Todd Manning, Father of Starr Manning.

Many fans are concerned about the relationship that was blossoming between Carly and Todd. Perhaps this new character will get involved with Carly. Leave a comment below and let us know how you feel about this change.

Michael Easton to Play Mark Clay on General Hospital

As part of the resolution regarding Michael Easton’s status with GH and OLTL, ABC and General Hospital have decided to bring back Michael Easton to GH. However, due to legal issues, he is unable to play the role of John McBain, which Prospect Park owns the rights to.

Rumor has it that Easton will play the role of a man named Mark Clay. Does that last name sound familiar? Well a few months back we were introduced to a character named Stephen Clay, who looked a lot like McBain and thought he was a Vampire. Stephen Clay (Caleb Morley) lost his wife and had a mental breakdown. He set his sights on Sam, who happens to look exactly like his late wife, Livvie. Mark Clay is said to be Stephen’s brother.

Let us know your thoughts on how this will work and tie in to the previous story with Sam and Stephen Clay/Caleb Morley.

Kristen Alderson as GH’s Serena Baldwin

The latest rumor that has hit the GH grapevine involves Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr Manning OLTL and GH). Recently the actress was forced to leave General Hospital due to legal issues with Prospect Park and the rights to her character’s name, Starr Manning. Since the production and upcoming re-launch of One Life to Live, Prospect Park is not allowing General Hospital to use the Starr Manning character name.

ABC and General Hospital have decided they want Kristen Alderson to remain part of GH but are not allowed to keep her in the same role. Thus resulting in having to give the actress a new identity in the fictional town of Port Charles. Rumors suggest that Alderson will now be playing the role of Serena Baldwin, Scotty’s daughter. Serena was born to Scotty and his late wife Dominique in 1993. Lucy Coe was the surrogate during this time, as Dominique was dying from a brain tumor. This news is still in the rumor phase and has not been confirmed.

How do you feel about the character switch up? Comment and let us know!

Emme Rylan, General Hospital’s New Lulu Spencer Falconeri

This week on General Hospital, Lulu was found and saved by her husband Dante, and parents, Luke and Laura Spencer. Actress Emme Rylan (ex-Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light) took over the role of Lulu Spencer Falconeri after actress Julie Marie Berman did not renew her contract with GH. Berman played Lulu since October of 2005. and won her first Emmy in 2009 for Outstanding Younger Actress. Julie brought so much to the canvas as she played the daughter of the legendary couple Luke and Laura Spencer. Fans adored her as she fit right in with her fictional family. Fans of Julie are saddened to see the actress end her journey with General Hospital but wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

Actress Emme Marcy Rylan made her speaking debut on GH today after she awoken from being presumed dead by her family. Dante, Luke and Laura were ecstatic to hear a heart beat and overjoyed when she woke up. But to their dismay, they quickly discovered this wasn’t the same sweet Lulu they once knew. Ms. Rylan did an amazing job today playing a brain washed woman who couldn’t remember her parents or husband… and even worse, she woke up thinking Stavros Cassadine was her husband! Looks like there is a long road ahead for Lulu and her family, and we are happy that Emme Rylan could step in and let this story develop.

Is Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Anton) Sticking Around GH?

Dancing with the Stars Professional, Maksim Chmerkovskiy made a guest appearance on General Hospital for the Nurses Ball. He played Choreographer and dance partner to Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco), Anton. Monaco partnered up with Mak’s brother Val Chmerkovskiy last season on Dancing with the Stars All Stars.

Chmerkovskiy “had a blast” om the set of General Hospital and alludes to the fact that this wasn’t the last time GH viewers will see him on the show. “I had a blast, but you know, this relationship is not over. We’ve talked about our future and… just watch GH.”

Nothing more has been mentioned or confirmed by the Pro dancer or ABC. Maksim admits that acting is something that he wants to do in his career.
