General Hospital News: GH’s Cameron Mathison Opens Up About His And His Mother’s Battle With Cancer

General Hospital has recently welcomed an addition to the cast, a daytime TV vet, to replace Billy Miller as Drew Cain. Cameron Mathison made his debut, taking over the role on August 17, 2021.

General Hospital news reports reveal Cameron had announced that he was battling cancer, back in 2019. Mathison revealed he has kidney cancer, and the tumor has been removed. Thankfully, today Cameron Mathison is is cancer free.

General Hospital spoilers reveal that in addition to Mathison’s diagnosis, four months later, his mother, Loretta, was diagnosed with brain cancer. Today, she is still battling the illness, while thankfully, her son is cancer free.

In a recent interview, Mathison explained when he found out he was cancer free for the first time in two years. He disclosed, “Seems fitting I’m in Florida visiting her when I got the news that my two-year cancer checkup came back totally clear. Thank you for all the well wishes… I can’t tell you how much it means.” Mathison goes on to say, “My doctor said, ‘Whatever you’re doing, it’s working because your kidney numbers are the best they’ve been!’” Mathison reported before thanking physique and health coach Allen Cress for his help in achieving his goals.”

General Hospital news reports reveal that Loretta is still fighting the good fight, with her son by her side. Mathison expressed his love and support in a heartfelt message, “Now it’s your turn, Mom, to beat the odds,” he continues, “I love you so much and I’m here for you like you were for me.”
