General Hospital News: Will GH Plot Focus More Mob Stories Like in the Past? Sonny vs. ???

In all the 56 years of General Hospital’s existence, story lines and plot twists have had multiple focal points throughout GH’s remarkable 5 1/2 decades on television. For a long while, although our beloved soap opera is mostly appropriately named General Hospital, a large portion of the show’s history included major stories revolving around Port Charles’ dynamic, good hearted, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his right hand man, the enforcer, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

The drama, suspense, action, and excitement never quit when Sonny and Jason were about to take down whatever arch enemy and rival mob family was after the Corinthos organization. The days of Sorel, Alcazar, Ruiz, The Zacchara’s… (you get the picture) are far gone and missed by many GH viewers. Earlier today, I sent out a tweet regarding this very topic. It was interesting to find the tweet was “liked” by the legendary actor himself, Maurice Benard.

It’s always important to change up the plots in an attempt to keep things fresh and avoid boring, stale, content. It seems lately GH has been hyper focused on micro stories, multiple small story lines that come into play from many angles. It has been some time since there has been one large story line which is the main focus of the show involving a significant amount of Port Charles residents.

Would shifting the focus to revolve around Sonny, Jason, and all the mob entails be a way to stir up some excitement and break away from all the baby stealing and Cassadine fortune mayhem?
