General Hospital Spoilers: How Multiple Facets Of The Storyline Could Point To Sonny’s Exit

General Hospital: Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright)

Is GH prepping for Sonny’s exit? Or There has been a lot of talk lately about major changes that are happening around Port Charles. Not only in the fictional city but behind the scenes as well. In fact, new writers took over and began switching things up as recently as January. Most of the changes were not subtle and drew strong reactions from fans—both those who praised them and those who disapproved. Some even vowed to never watch GH again. In my experience I have seen a lot of fans “cry wolf” when it comes to throwing in the towel on GH. Let’s hope that they’re all blowing smoke because we need General Hospital to survive any changes that come its way.

That said, General Hospital rumors indicate that the 62-year-old soap opera will soon face one of its biggest changes and challenges—right up there with COVID and the writers’ strike. According to General Hospital spoilers, the storylines have been shifting gears. As a result, these changes ultimately impact the entire plot, steering away from the mob-based premise in Port Charles. So what’s next for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard)?

The Storyline Points In A New Direction, Giving Multiple Reasons For Sonny’s Exit

Next we have the secondhand, or inadvertent affects of living and the mob boss. Additional adversities accompany the direct dangers of the business, and they aren’t limited to external attacks. Those attacks often have lasting consequences. Evidently, a gunshot wound from back in the day is causing Sonny to have heart issues today. His health is on the line, and he must proceed with caution.

First and foremost is the dangers that come with Sonny being in “the business.” Sonny and Carly have slept with in eye open for decades just to watch their family’s backs against his enemies. Their children have suffered great threats to their lives, and Sonny has lost more loved ones than he can count.

Additionally, the stress of it all has taken a toll on Sonny’s health. Avoiding stress as much as possible is the only way to hold him off until his surgery.

Not only does Sonny’s position in the mob pose risks to his and his family’s safety, it’s also interfere with his home life. Ultimately, the lasting impact of Sonny’s role and reputation in the community touches down to anyone who has close ties with him- this includes anyone from Mayor Laura Collins to his own grandchildren. He’s missing out on milestones with his family because of who he is in Port Charles.

Then there is Felicia (Kristina Wagner). She invited herself over to Carly’s (Laura Wright) to ask for a personal favor for Mac (John J. York). Mac is concerned about Laura and the outcome of the referendum on the esplanade. Apparently, Mac and Felicia want Carly to convince Sonny to back down if the bites do not go in his favor- they want him to accept the results even if it means giving up his piers.

According to previous GH rumors, the WSB becomes a major part of Port Charles and its residents. Key players have entangled themselves with those associated with the WSB. Jason has gotten much closer to Anna, Carly is involved with Jack, unbeknownst to Carly, Josslyn joined the WSB, rumors about Emma and the WSB have been circulating lately, and the overall focus around PC seems to be the WSB. So could it be that Sonny’s exit from the mob brings the focus to the WSB instead? GH spoilers and rumors tease that Jason becomes an agent and will become the new leading man on town.

Is GH Prepping For Sonny’s Exit?

  1. The direct risk to Sonny and his family’s safety. What just happened to Michael the perfect example.
  2. Sonny’s custody battle with Ava over Avery adversely affects his health, and lessens his chances of gaining custody. Is living the mob life worth losing custody of his daughter?
  3. Jason and Sonny openly discussed getting out of the business.
  4. The lasting impact of old wounds- physically, psychologically, and emotionally.
  5. The toll it’s taking on Sonny’s health due to the business’s stressful nature.
  6. The impact his reputation in PC has on his loved ones – ie Laura, the Esplanade, and Rocco situation, and how the mob life gets in the way of family life. Olivia gave Sonny sh!t for missing Rocco’s debate.
  7. Jordan’s stance on Sonny’s property and the esplanade location.
  8. Mac and Felicia reached out to Carly for help in convincing Sonny to back down for Laura’s sake.
  9. Felicia explains to Carly all the ways her family would be much safer if Sonny got out of the mob.
  10. When all is said and done, Carly is the ultimate influence on Sonny.

Will Sonny come to realize that his health and time with his family are far too fragile at this point to justify staying in the business? GH rumors hint that it’s the direction things are going! What do you think?
