That leads us to Michael’s devious plan to destroy his own father. Dex’s presence in Port Charles only takes place because Michael hired him to take down Sonny. Eventually, Sonny’s disgruntled son came to his senses and called off the job. That’s when Carly and Michael decided to keep Dex on payroll for another reason. Now, he was to protect Sonny.
