Roger Howarth Still On Contract with General Hospital

In the midst of learning that many of our favorite actors/characters have either dropped down to recurring, or are down right leaving the show, it is very easy to inform fans that is not the case with Roger. After today’s episode, many fans were worried that Howarth, along with Kelly Thiebaud (Dr. Britt Westbourne aka The Britch), John J. York (Mac Scorpio), and Marc Anthony Samuel (Felix DuBois), would also be making himself scarce and leaving General Hospital.

For the record, Roger Howarth is not leaving General Hospital in his role as Franco, he also has not dropped to recurring. He is still on contract with General Hospital, according to Executive Producer, Frank Valentini. Roger Howarth will be taping for his Prime Time role as Mason Bridge on the CW’s ‘The Flash’ during General Hospital’s hiatus. In a quote from Valentini regarding Roger’s new project, he states, “We are thrilled for Roger and this opportunity. Fans can rest assure he is not off the show, as the timing for this role worked out so that he can shoot during our current “GH” hiatus.”

Share this post if you are relieved that Roger Howarth will continue on GH in the role of the psychotic and disturbed, Franco.

General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini Reveals the Return of Villains this Fall!

Executives over at General Hospital have just announced the time slot change for the 51 year old soap. After 2 years of airing at 2PM Eastern/1Pm Pacific, General Hospital will return to it’s long aired time of 3PM Eastern/2PM Pacific. General Hospital Executive Producer, Frank Valentini explains that in celebration of the time change, there are big stories and big characters promised for this coming Fall.

In regard to big stories, Valentini states, “We’re interested in pushing the envelope in a way that challenges the audience’s ability to accept, understand and be entertained by the show.” The story involving the evil Victor Cassadine (Thaao Penghlis), the brilliant Dr. Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough), and the mob enforcer, Jason Morgan (Billy Miller), will play a big role in upcoming stories. Look out for more villains to return to the canvas. Valentini reveals, “Some favorite villains will be back in the fall.  I think the fans will be really excited to see what kind of trouble they will be causing.  There will be male and female villains returning, who are our fan favorites who will be causing problems for our friends in Port Charles.”

Are you happy about the new time change?

Do you think Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) and Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) will be “defrosted” so to speak by Victor? What other villains would you like to see resurface? May fans are at the edge of their seat with the assumption of Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roché) returning as either Fluke (Tony Geary), and/or Levi’s (Zachary Garred) father. What do you think?

‘Days’ Star Alison Sweeney Headed to General Hospital

Alison Sweeney is a long time daytime star who played Sami Brady on NBC’s Days of Our Lives for almost 22 years. She also has hosting The Biggest Loser under her belt, along with many other projects that have displayed her many talents. It has been confirmed that ex-Sami will be moving her talents over to ABC’s General Hospital. Although this time her role will be much different. She won’t be playing any on screen roles, Sweeney will be working on directing with the GH executive team. Alison isn’t a directing rookie however, she has spent time in the past directing some episodes of Days of Our Lives.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Executive Producer Frank Valentini disclosed that he asked Alison to join the GH team after she spent some time observing on the GH set and said, “She’s sort of paid her dues and spent some time learning the show,” so when an opening presented itself, “I asked her if she was available and she said yes.”

Alison Sweeney is said to direct her first episode this month.

Executive Producer Frank Valentini Tells What’s in Store for Patrick Drake

We have been watching Jason Thompson play the role of Dr. Patrick Drake for 7 years now. Since 2007 we have been able to recognize and appreciate his abilities as an actor. It’s always great to hear what General Hospital co-workers and TPTB think of our favorite stars.

In a recent article from Michael Fairman, he explains that in an interview on the red carpet for the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Frank Valentini let him in on what Patrick Drake will be up to throughout this Summer. He gives kudos to Jason Thompson for his amazing portrayal of the talented, good looking, father of the year, Dr. Patrick Drake. Frank Valentini revealed, “A lot will happen with Patrick over the summer and into the Fall, and we also have Sabrina’s return.  Jason Thompson is a tremendous actor who is constantly refining and reworking his craft.  He’s always in class, and he is such a wonderful guy and amazing.”

Valentini also gave major props to other actors on General Hospital. He explain that when casting new actors, they do it very carefully in order to keep up with the incredible talent that already exists in Port Charles. He mentioned Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos Jacks), and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis). In response to a question asking about the casting of Maura West (Ava Jerome), Donna Mills (Madeline Reeves), and Michelle Stafford (Nina Clay), he stated, “We have a tremendous cast, and we choose everyone very carefully, because of the caliber of actors such as Maurice Benard (Sonny), Laura Wright (Carly,) and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) … you’ve got to bring in some pretty big guns to compete with them.  You will see Donna Mills (Madeline) again this summer.”

Confirmed! Sean Kanan Leaving GH and the Bitter Departure!

Ron Carlivati has confirmed that Sean Kanan has decided to leave General Hospital.

Sean stated that even though he was thrilled to work with Frank Valentini, he was not “over the moon” about the way his character AJ was being written. He commented on how panic attacks and relish wasn’t what he had signed up for. Carlivati replied to Kanan’s comments with this tweet, “His comments are like school in the Summertime. No class.”

It it seems as if there have been bridges burned between actor Sean Kanan (AJ Quartermaine) and Executives at GH, Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini.

GH Head Writer, Ron Carlivati Talks Sonny and Ava

Things are getting pretty intense for the residents of Port Charles these days. With AJ just being shot, there are many people who are trying to figure out why and what exactly happened to him. Anna DeVane is hot on the case with suspects such as Julian and Sonny. Shawn, Duke, and Carly all know Sonny’s deep dark secret that he is the one who pulled the trigger, sending AJ to GH to fight for his life. Sonny has betrayed his son Michael as he promised him he wouldn’t hurt AJ. We all know that Ava is the one who had every intention on killing AJ, and Sonny just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time resulting in a crime of passion. Ava has been behind many of the crimes in Port Charles as of late, including the murder of Connie Falconeri, and shooting Olivia Falconeri when she was aiming for Franco.

Head Writer, Ron Carlivati teases that things between Sonny and Ava are going to get a lot crazier now that the two of them share this secret about AJ.  However, Executive Producer, Frank Valentini mentioned that it will be a long while before Sonny ever figures out that Ava is actually the one who killed Connie, and not AJ.

Sam Fears for Danny

It looks as though Sam’s son Danny may be ill. Previews mention that Liz is heartbroken when she learns about Danny, and Sam gets some answers from Patrick. What could it be? Frank Valentini encourages to watch tomorrow’s GH to find out!
