Anthony Geary Says Goodbye to General Hospital As He Tapes His Last Scenes

We all knew this day was coming, but it has really crept up on us all rather quickly. A few months back, General Hospital Blog shared the news that Anthony Geary had announces his retirement, after over 3 decades on the daytime drama, General Hospital. His character Luke Spencer is legendary to say the least. Geary and co-star Genie Francis made history as the infamous Luke and Laura.

Tuesday, June 22nd, Anthony Geary taped his very last seen as Lucas Lorenzo Spencer. Luke will be departing Port Charles later this Summer. It was an emotional goodbye, as his friends and cast mates bid him farewell after 37 years in the iconic role. Geary was surrounded by GH stars including Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), Leslie Charleson (Monica Quartermaine), Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe), Kristina Wagner (Felicia Jones), Kin Shriner (Scotty Baldwin), and more. At the farewell, friend Maurice Benard told Geary, “Not having you here is going to be sad for me.”

Anthony Geary has won 8 Daytime Emmy Awards for his role as Luke Spencer. He has called GH his home for 37 climactic years.

Leaving General Hospital is bitter sweet for Geary. Although it’s sad to say goodbye, he looks forward to what the future holds for his personal life and his career. Geary tells Entertainment Weekly, “I’m excited to raise the curtain on act 3, to reinvent myself in my new home to pursue whatever opportunity there may be. It’s  an exciting prospect to me. They’ve done a wonderful job of wrapping up the character. So this seems like the ideal time to go.”

As Geary walks away from the Daytime genre, he leaves with words of hope and encouragement for the industry and fans. In regard to the survival of daytime soaps, and the stir up involving the cancellation of One Life to Live and All My Children, Geary tells EW, “It was scary there for two or three years when every thing was being cancelled. The network thought that talk shows should take over because people weren’t going to be interested in soaps. But there has been a resurgence and I think that’s hopeful sign. I don’t believe it’s the end of the medium. Serialization is a great way to tell stories.”

Anthony Geary and Luke Spencer will be greatly missed by us at General Hospital Blog. Geary is an extremely talented actor, and Luke will never be forgotten. We wish him the absolute best in everything that comes his way going forward. It is sad to say goodbye, but there is a warm place in our hearts knowing that he gave so much to the industry for so long. Thank you Anthony Geary! We love you!

GH Casting News: There’s a New Girl in Port Charles

In the past two years, it seems as though the GH cast has grown exponentially. We have also seen almost as many actors/characters leave Port Charles as we have seen enter this small town.

The latest General Hospital spoilers and GH casting news reveal that the Exectives at General Hospital are seeking yet another actor to play a new character. They are looking for a young female, in her late teens, that is Caucasian, beautiful, and would like her to start shooting scenes in the next couple of months. This role has been said to be a contract role.

It remains unknown if this new young female will have any family ties to the current residents of Port Charles.

Dante and Lulu Slowly Falling Apart

Fans are totally resistant to the story line that seems like it’s obviously underway. We can see that slowly but surely Dante and Lulu’s marriage will be unraveling and coming apart at the seams. They are one of the few married couples on GH that have stuck together through thick and thin. A young couple, with a toddler son, they seem like the perfect little family.

General Hospital spoilers reveal that Dante and Lulu will go through some major turmoil in the near future. General Hospital rumors claim that Valerie and Dillon will break these two soul mates apart. Although Valerie isn’t purposely putting herself between Dante and her cousin Lulu, she has made her way closer to Dante inadvertently. She now works side by side with Dante at the PCPD, the two spend a lot of time together, and she stuck by his side when he was accused of being racist. Dillon is also there for Lulu, not intentionally trying to steal her away from Dante, but as a caring friend. These two share the same secret about Luke and Laura, and are both lying to people they love.

We can see it happening before Dante, Lulu, Valerie and Dillon even realize what is about to happen. Watching the destruction of Dante and Lulu’s marriage in slow motion is like torture to some GH fans, as “Lante” have a huge fan base. It’s pretty apparent that if Dante cheats on Lulu with Valerie it will be extremely out of character for this old fashioned, Italian man. It definitely won’t be intentional, Dante will most likely start feeling closer to Valerie as Lulu continues to shut him out. Although Lulu is torn up inside about lying to Dante, it must be done to protect her brother Lucky. Since Dillon is the only one she can lean on, she and Dillon may grow closer and closer, causing her to drift from her husband.

General Hospital Spoilers: Jonathan Jackson and Tony Geary’s Jaw Dropping Scenes

“Not-to-be-missed like, motion picture-level work. They’re definitely scenes that nobody should miss.” That is what Genie Francis told The Wrap in regard to the scenes that have been filmed between Jonathan Jackson and Tony Geary.

In an interview with The Wrap, General Hospital star Genie Francis discloses her feelings about returning to work, her disappointments, and encourages the audience to make sure they watch this Summer as Luke says goodbye to Port Charles.

Genie Francis reveals that she will be on into the Fall, even after Tony’s exit. She explains that although she wasn’t able to film a one on one interaction with her TV son Lucky Spencer, she did indeed tape scenes with Jackson and Geary.

As far as what the future holds for Laura Spencer, Francis explains that she would love to see her character remarry. She would love for her to find happiness again at her age, and Genie believes that women her age would related to that type of story line.

General Hospital Moment of the Day: Lucky Has Been Kidnapped

ABC’s General Hospital always has something to keep us at the edge of our seats. Many times, ABC likes to recap what they have declared the “moment of the day” for the most recent episode. There is no doubt that in yesterday’s thrilling episode of GH, the moment of the say revolved around  what Luke and Laura disclosed to Lulu and Dillon.

Luke and Laura were forced to go to extreme measures in order to protect their son, Lucky. The secret has been revealed, the real reason Laura is in town is so that she and Luke can go on an adventure to save their son. Unfortunately, the two have to deceive those around them, especially Tracy, to try and accomplish this rescue.

Will Lulu and Dillon have to watch Tracy grieve with a broken heart over Luke while they know the truth, or will they tell her the truth to ease her tortured heart?

Jonathan Jackson is set to return to General Hospital along with Nathan Parsons, (Ethan Lovett), and Emma Samms (Holly Sutton), for this Summer’s sizzling GH story line.

General Hospital Casting News: Genie Francis Update

Genie Francis is one fan favorite among quite a few that have been set up for a return to General Hospital as part of the farewell to Anthony Geary. Laura Spencer is essential to Luke, as they have made history together for decades.

Jonathan Jackson will be returning to GH to reprise his role as Lucky Spencer this Summer, but it will not be for an extended amount of time. The actor is currently on the ABC primetime hit, Nashville, and will be working on episodes for the new season. Nathan Parsons will also be making a return to GH as Ethan Lovett, along with his mother Holly Sutton, played by Emma Samms. These returns are believed to be short lived, and will play a major role in Geary’s exit, as Luke Spencer makes his way out of Port Charles.

Good news is that Genie Francis will be sticking around General Hospital even after Anthony Geary leaves the canvas. General Hospital spoilers have revealed that Laura will be sticking around Port Charles for some unfinished business. Perhaps she will be there to set her son Nikolas straight, or if General Hospital rumors are true, she may have to come to Lulu’s resuce with yet another Cassadine catastrophe.

General Hospital Spoilers: Lulu Learns the Truth About Luke and Laura

General Hospital fans along with the residents of Port Charles have been left in the dark when it comes to Luke and Laura. On the surface, it looks as though Laura Spencer has come back to Port Charles to stake her claim in Luke, the love of her life. However, there is so much more to it than that. It has to be something HUGE for Luke to up and hurt Tracy like that, after he has been so sure of his love for her. Luke was ready to truly commit himself to Tracy Quartermaine once and for all until Laura came to him with unsettling news.

General Hospital spoilers have revealed that while Tracy and the rest of PC are angry with Luke, thinking he has chosen Laura, his daughter Lulu learns the truth. It has been rumored that Luke will end up disclosing to Lulu what he and Laura are actually up to, and what they are facing. Lulu must keep her parent’s secret from the rest of their family and friends, but will the secret also be kept from fans? We aren’t actually certain whether or not the writers a GH will be letting us in on Luke and Laura’s secret right off the bat. Odds are though that that will be going on an adventure together and we will get to see exactly what they are up to outside of Port Charles.

Since the news regarding Jonathan Jackson (Lucky Spencer), Emma Samms (Holly Sutton), and Nathan Parsons (Ethan Lovett)’s return, there are endless story line possibilities for Luke and Laura. Is Ava Jerome Gone for Good?

Ava has been through Hell and back since she fell off that cliff. Although Sonny tried to save her, she still fell to what looked like her death, and the residents of Port Charles were led to believe she had died in that incident. Little did everyone know that an old “friend” of Ava’s came to her rescue. Dr. Silas Clay, her former lover, saved Ava and took her to New York to recover. During her recovery from the fall, Silas discovered that Ava had cancer. Since she was in hiding, because she killed Connie Falconeri and was wanted by the PCPD, her wishes were just to die a peaceful death in New York.

At first Silas was going to oblige, but then he realized that there was one person he hand’t tried to be a possible match to save Ava’s life. Her own daughter Avery, was kidnapped by Silas to perform tests, and ultimately, the little baby saved her mama. The audience was supposed to believe that Silas had granted Ava’s wishes, and helped her die with medication.

Since Ava is alive and well, she is determined to be close to her daughter. The problem is, Ava Jerome is wanted for the murder of Connie Falconeri, and she is also wanted DEAD by PC mob boss, Sonny Corinthos. Ava had to do what she had to do in order to return to PC and be near Kiki and Avery. She went to great lengths to change her identity, to Denise DeMuccio. She even involved her mother Delia in on her secret.

Denise is now in Port Charles and making her way closer and close to baby Avery. General Hospital spoilers reveal that Ava will make an attempt to get Avery back, staying disguised as Denise. This raises a very important question. Wil we ever see Ava Jerome again? Not only is she wanted by the PCPD and Sonny Corinthos for murdering Connie, she has also committed fraud and lied about her identity, got rid of her own finger prints, and has involved Delia in her scam. It seems like there is no turning back for Ava now. WIll Ava Jerome be gone forever, and is Denise DeMuccio here to stay?

Luke and Laura’s Big Secret: Will Luke’s Sacrifice Save Lucky?

Laura just waltzed back into Port Charles, on a mission like there was no tomorrow. The fans are at opposite ends of the spectrum on this one, divided by Tracy and Laura. Luke and Tracy fans are outraged that Laura had the audacity to demand Luke’s attention, and that Luke actually took the bait. Laura fans are ecstatic to see her return and be with Luke. However, we know that the triangle between Luke, Laura, and Tracy is not so cut and dry, Luke has done some horrible things to Tracy, but he wouldn’t do this. Luke has a heart and Luke is in love with Tracy, especially after she stood by him when his like was unraveling at the seams.

Let’s look at what we do know about Luke and Laura. There love was unforgettable, their love made history. Eventually though, they grew apart, and Laura moved away. They both moved on a time or two, and Luke fell in love with Tracy. Real, adult, solid, true love. Luke and Laura have a past and share children, and will always hold a special place in one another’s hearts. These two share a lot, even enemies. The Cassadines have been out to hurt the Spencer family for decades and nothing has changed.

From the looks of it, on the surface, Laura came back to stake her claim in her love, Luke, and Luke went running back, leaving Tracy in the dust. It’s apparent though that these two are merely putting up a front, hiding something much bigger. Luke said what they did to Tracy had to be done, no matter the cost. The only thing that could make Luke hurt Tracy so deeply at this point in their lives is if his family was in danger. General Hospital spoilers have reported that Jonathan Jackson will be returning to General Hospital as part of Luke’s farewell, as Tony Geary retires from General Hospital.

Luke has sacrificed Tracy’s heart and their entire relationship for whatever Laura had to tell him in private. What could convince Luke to make this huge sacrifice? General Hospital spoilers and rumors have circulated that the reason behind Luke and Laura’s big secret is that Lucky is in extreme danger. A few years ago, Lucky left Port Charles after Siobhan died. leaving Liz alone with her children.

Luke and Laura have always been there for each other through every single adventure and every obstacle they have had to conquer. It makes total sense, that Laura has come back for Luke because she needs his help on this one last adventure. Judging from the worried looks on their faces, it may be accurate to assume that their son Lucky’s life is at stake. But why? How? And by whom? Is Helena at it again?
