Shady business dealings, threats, bribes, and imminent danger are just some of the elements that make up day to day mob-life. The mob may consist of “The Five Families,” but most would agree that despite “families,” the mob is no environment to raise one.

In Port Charles, mob activity runs deep. Life on this edge is second nature to many in town as mob ties in PC intertwine and thicken. For Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), it’s his entire lifestyle. Over the years, his status as mob boss put his loved ones at risk. He and right hand man Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Both Sonny and Jason took issue with allowing the ones they love anywhere near the business. However, keeping family and the business separate is inevitably impossible. Sonny and Jason walked away from countless people they love in order to keep them safe. They’ve suffered great losses to tragedy as well as by choice in order to avoid further losses.

Sonny and Jason said goodbye to man in the name of the business. Leaving lovers behind for their own protection broke hearts and tore couples and families apart. According to GH rumors, Dex’s father walked out of his life. GH recaps mention that Dex disclosed he grew up without a father. Therefore, his paternity remains in question. Since arriving in PC, Dex is in a mission. He’s eager to carryout Michael’s orders and get Sonny put away for good.

Although friends are nice to have, they come and go. Unlike family, friends are in your life by choice. As the same goes for someone you trust to have your back and keep your secrets. In the mob world, business is business. And for Sonny, he can’t run his ideal business without trusted and loyal employees. Over the years, the mob kingpin and family man collected a handle of employees who he trusted with his life. The one nearest and dearest to him is the (assumed) late Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

After Jason’s alleged death, the world around Sonny started ti look different. Choosing Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) over his wife Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and pushing his son Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) away changed everything. But one thing was certain, Sonny needed a trusted employee. Meanwhile, Michael was hell bent on destroying his father after. That’s where Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) comes in. Michael’s plan to take down Sonny included using Dex as an informant. Michael advised Dex to do whatever it takes to earn Sonny’s trust. The ELQ Executive told Dex to get as close to Sonny as a son… oh the irony!

According to General Hospital spoilers and rumors, Sonny and Dex’s table talk could be a hint toward the truth behind Dex. Trusted by Sonny and involved with his step daughter Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Dex is well intertwined in Sonny’s life. Moreover, Sonny and Dex’s dinner conversation revealed similarities between the mobster and his new prodigy. There’s a lot Dex is keeping from Sonny, including his relationship with Joss. And despite the position’s uniquely dangerous job description, Dex assured Michael he’s the man for the job.

Does Dex Understand The Assignment?

After meeting with his potential candidate, Michael thought that Dex seemed to fit the position well. Accordingly, Sonny’s son proceeded with his plan to use Dex to take down his own father. It was then when Dex began working for both Michael and Sonny.

General Hospital recaps recall Sonny’s suspicions of his new employee. It is loyalty and trust that Sonny holds in high regard, honoring those who possess these qualities. So, if anyone betrays him, there’s no going back. Since Dex is secretly working for Michael, the betrayal against Sonny is already a done deal. However, forgiveness might be an option if Dex comes clean on his own.

Meanwhile, Michael’s personal life has its challenges as faces a true nightmare. Although a focused businessman, Michael is a negatively distracted with Willow’s terminal illness. Additionally, drama follows the Corinthians family, and every turn. While Nina is the reason Michael feels betrayed by Sonny, she is also the source of the Willow’s distress. This makes Michael more determined than ever to make sunny pay for choosing Nina over his family.

Clearly, something ignited between the two men during their conversation about cooking. Similarly, Sonny and Dex’s interest in cooking serves the same life purpose for each of them.
