There aren’t many television/ entertainment genres that can stake a claim in extraordinary longevity. Soap Operas are among the longest running forms of tv entertainment.
Other than The Simpsons, which came out in 1989, soap operas take the cake for having been on air for the most seasons/years. The animated sitcom is just about half the age as ABC’s General Hospital.
General Hospital news reports reveal two soap opera veterans are ready to celebrate a major milestone for longest currently running soap opera. Laura Wright joined the daytime scene in 1991 as Ally Rescott on Loving, brought the role to another show called, The City, the started on Guiding Light, before joining the cast of General Hospital. Cameron Mathison is no stranger to the soap opera scene. He joined the cast of ABC’s All My Children in 1997 as Ryan Lavery and ended his run in 2011. Mathison is now a on the front burner in Port Charles as Drew Cain’s recast. He took over the role from Billy Miller. Drew works alongside Wright’s character, General Hospital’s leading lady, Carly Corinthos.
General Hospital news and spoilers reports Wright and Mathison discussed General Hospital’s upcoming 60th year on air. Wright commented on her 17 year (and counting) run, confessing, “I love every second of it … it’s an honor … we’re kicking off in Graceland this October, our first big celebration of the 60 years, so the cast is going to be there and we’re super-excited.” Although new to GH, Mathison is Judy as excited about being part of this legendary show, admitting, “It feels like coming home for me,” he said. “It’s just been amazing … I come in to work super prepared knowing how good everybody is there…every day it feels like coming home.”
Laura was asked by GMA about her experience with working with Cameron Mathison, in which she replied, “Our work ethic is very similar [be]cause we started here in New York City.”
We can’t believe that General Hospital will turn 60 this coming April 1st! Wright and Mathison are among many of the cast members who will be kicking off the big celebration in Graceland this October!
Well there we have it! The storyline surrounding Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and her undying quest to find her long lost biological child lives on in her resentment toward Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright).
General Hospital recaps recall Nina’s search for her daughter came to an end when she found out Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) was her child, and then was never able to get to know the psychopath. Nina blames Carly, says she had a hand in Nelle’s “death” although Nelle tried to kill multiple people including the father of her son, Wiley.
Nelle’s baby daddy happens to be Carly’s son, Michael Corinthos, and Carly was protecting her own when she and Nelle got into it and Nelle fell from the cliff. This major event has crates a so no effect of reactions that have lead this group of people to where they are today. Nina used this as her excuse RO keep Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) away from his wife and children, causing Sonny and Carly to divorce, and enabling Michael and Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) resentment toward Sonny to fuel their future decisions.
Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) is a major player in this story now that Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) confessed to Carly that she isn’t Willow’s biological mother, but Nelle’s mother Nina, is. Carly was sworn to secrecy. General Hospital rumors suggest that Willow’s leukemia diagnosis will open new doors to upcoming revelations regarding Nina and her daughter(s). Willow’s health will play a large role in the discovery, and previous General Hospital rumors and spoilers claimed Nelle would be the one who would he’ll save Willow’s life.
General Hospital news reports have confirmed Chloe Lanier’s return to the soap opera to reprise her role as Nelle Benson. GH spoilers reveal Nelle’s return will take place the week of September 5th. The actress weighs in on the big news. “It has been two years since I had played this role. What were my speech patterns? How did I walk as Nelle? All of these things that were once so clicked-in for me, I had totally forgotten how to do, but hopefully, it translated and I was able to slip back into character the way I did before. I’m hoping!”
We are so excited to see how Nelle’s shocking return will play into this intricately intertwined story involving sonny prominent characters. Do NOT miss a drop of the drama! Watch General Hospital, Mon-Fri at 2pm Eastern on ABC!
It’s always good to mix things up, add some spice to life, keeping things fresh. That’s exactly why we are so interested in the love lives in Port Charles.
General Hospital news and spoilers indicate that Executive Producer Frank Valentini has teased upcoming GH spoilers surrounding the couples of PValentini has taken to Twitter to announce there will be some new combos and relations, specifically mentioning, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma)!
General Hospital Blog previously shared GH spoilers and rumors regarding Valentin and Anna’s failed happy ending and Sonny’s wavering heart leading to rekindling sparks between Valentin and Nina, as well as Sonny and Carly. As for Sonny and Anna, their relations are simply platonic. Nik and Liz have been friends for years, having a tawdry affair in between while she was with Nik’s brother Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson). GH rumors hint there may be a chance for these two now that Nik and Ava Jerome (Maura West) are over and Elizabeth isn’t too happy with Finn (Michael Easton).
Right now GH fans are on opposite ends of the opinion poll when it comes to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and his love interest. Are you Team Sonny and Carly or are you Team Sonny and Nina?
General Hospital spoilers reveal the drama surrounding Sonny, Carly, Nina, and Michael especially, will continue to intensify as the upcoming weeks unfold.
General Hospital news reports confirm that Benard has turned to Twitter to praise his cast mate’s acting skills, and get fans excited about what’s coming up between Sonny and his son Michael.
According to recent General Hospital spoilers, Maurice hints at what’s to come, teasing, “Wait till you see what’s coming up in the next month the acting that’s been going on @duelly is unreal. You can’t everybody happy I learned that along time ago. Talk is cheap, in the end acting will prevail.”
General Hospital spoilers indicate that Michael’s scheme to use Dex Heller to take down Sonny is only the beginning. His diabolical plot will take sonny for a loop, as Sonny would never have expected his own son would take things this far. Why not, though? Sonny was so quick to threaten Michael, telling him if he ever shut the door on him like that again it would be his last.
At the end of the day, Sonny better hope Nina is worth it! He lost his wife and stepdaughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), and his son has completely turned against him. Sonny’s about to suffer much more than being shut out by his family.
Changes are natural occurrences in life in which many of us embrace yet many of us fear. Being able to adapt to change is one of life’s biggest accomplishments.
Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) has been rolling with the punches through every upside down twist and turn her life has presented. General Hospital spoilers reveal Carly continues to take life in stride, which includes slowly blocking forward in life and love.
General Hospital recaps recall Carly and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) admitting their attraction to one another and acting on it. Things got so hot, these two literally started a fire.
General Hospital previews indicate Carly has something on her mind. She’s been thinking a lot about the how things have turned out after losing Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to his captor, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).
Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) has been there for Carly through her struggles, almost the way Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was there for her. As a friend, developing deep feelings for one another. Drew and Carly started out as having best friends vibes, but they have quickly moved past that. Now Carly is giving their new status second thoughts as they try to take friendship to another level.
There was once upon a time when Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) was madly in love with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) amidst his infatuation with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
Back then, the idea of Valentin getting the girl (Anna) was a pipe dream while there was room in his heart to really love another woman. Nina reciprocated feelings for Valentin in a way that Anna never could. Then things went south when Nina found out that Valentin was behind setting up Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) to act as Nina’s biological daughter- the one she had been searching for for years.
General Hospital spoilers indicate that Nina’s ranking with Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) family, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) specifically, will eventually take a toll on their relationship. In all honesty, Sonny was still madly in love with his wife, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) when he returned from Nixon Falls and even when he slept with Nina. He slept with Nina after being rejected by Carly, as he felt she had already given up. General Hospital recaps recall that even then, Sonny ran after Carly, leaving Nina behind after just sleeping together moments before.
There will always be an unbreakable bond between the 5 times married console, Sonny and Carly, their kids, and their close friends and family.
General Hospital spoilers reveal the obstacle between Valentin and Anna now may be too great to overcome, leaving the reality of a happily ever after off the table. General Hospital news reports featured GH actor, Valentin’s portrayer, disclosed his insight on his character’s future with Anna. The actor feels that his character will remain infatuated with Anna but a long term relationship is not in the cards.
General Hospital rumors hint that Valentin and Anna’s failed attempt at something real will lead him back to Nina. And as Sonny contemplates how Nina would ever fit within his family, as she does the same, these two could eventually drift apart, leading his straight back to his soul mate, Carly.
The apple didn’t fall far from the tree when Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) gave birth to her daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) with ex-husband, Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher).
Josslyn is Carly’s mini me, and the older she gets the more like her mother she becomes. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, tell it like it is, and doesn’t sugar coat any situation. I’d sue doesn’t like someone, they’ll know it.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Josslyn makes her feelings for her mom’s rival, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) very clear when she confronts Nina at the Quartermaine charity picnic. When Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine’s (Lisa LoCicero) order of desserts was mistakenly delivered to the Metro Court, Nina’s decision to deliver the tray of desserts personally was planned out and calculated. She went back and forth on how the act would be perceived by the guests attending the Quartermaine benefit, and made her decision to best for her own agenda.
General Hospital spoilers reveal, Josslyn isn’t buying Nina’s “heroic, save the day,” act, and she isn’t going to let Nina think she winning anyone over. Josslyn let’s Nina know that she isn’t welcome at the Quartermaine’s.
General Hospital previews and spoilers suggest Josslyn encounters another rival of Carly’s, but this time the exchange is much different. Joss sees a helpless and wounded Ava lying on the deck of the Quartermaine boathouse, bleeding from a stab wound. Although the scene is traumatic for Joss, she keeps herself together enough so that she can provide Ava assistance in this life or death situation. GH previews report Joss comes to Ava’s rescue, and later needs some comfort of her own.
Every decision Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) has made since Nelle Benson’s death has been driven by the fact that she feels she missed out on getting to know her daughter.
General Hospital recaps recall Nina’s longing to find her biological daughter for years, just to learn to little too late that her child has been right there in plain sight, living in Port Charles.
Nina has blamed Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) for missing her chance at a relationship with Nelle. Although Nelle was a psycho killer who threatened the lives of many, including Carly’s son Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), their son Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver), slashed Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) throat, and committed many other crimes, Nina still mourns the daughter she never got to know.
General Hospital spoilers and recaps remind fans that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) is also Nina’s biological daughter, as confessed by Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel), making Nelle and Willow sisters.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Willow’s health crisis will ultimately bring out the truth, putting Carly in the position to be faced with coming clean and spilling the secret Harmony made her keep.
General Hospital rumors claim Willow will need a bone marrow match, which will require family members to be tested if willing to donate. Knowing that Nina is Willow’s mother, Carly will likely have to come clean as a way to give Willow a fighting chance. However, siblings are among those most likely to be a bone marrow match, having a 1 in 4 chance.
GH rumors wildly speculate the return of Nelle Benson, with the potential of Nelle being Willow’s bone marrow match. Nelle’s body was never found after the tragic night of her argument with Carly when she fell over the cliff. It’s possible that Nelle is still out there somewhere, and will make her way back to Port Charles.
After all the damage Nelle has caused, will she be able to right here wrongs by saving her sister’s life?
Lately Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) has been torn between sides and her loyalty has been put to the test in multiple areas of her life.
With friends, Josslyn has been torn between standing by Trina Robinson’s (Tabyana Ali) side while disapproving of the way Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and even her own boyfriend, Cameron Webber (William Lipton) has handled Trina’s situation with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl). In her home life, she has chosen to stay loyal to her mother, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) after the stepdad she had loved her entire life had betrayed Carly with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).
General Hospital spoilers reveal Josslyn will have to make a difficult choice yet again when faced with choosing to help someone who has wronged her mother on many levels.
General Hospital previews indicate that Josslyn is torn when she becomes witness to a Ava’s dire situation. Josslyn decides to help a woman who isn’t exactly on Carly’s bff list, but understands that she’s in need.
According to General Hospital spoilers, Ava’s predicament is serious enough to leave Josslyn rattled. Thankfully, she can turn to her mother for support.
Amore! Amore! Leo Falconeri Quartermaine (Easton Rocket Sweda) is adjusting well to the Quartermaine life now that he’s officially a Q. He’s falling right into the swing of scheming just like the rest of them!
General Hospital recaps recall Leo’s attempt at match making was taken to a new level when he created a love potion during the Quartermaine benefit picnic. Leo thinks Sam and Dante should have a shot at love, so his goal is for the two of them to drink his special love potion.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) have a heart to heart about their current situation. In recent General Hospital previews, Sam tells Dante she may never be able to move in with him.
General Hospital spoilers indicate that Leo’s love potion may have got into the wrong mouths, as seems thing to be shaken up a bit. Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will discuss their current status, Sam has eyes from Drew, Chase drank the potion but did it miss Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) lips? Find out more at 2pm Eastern om ABC’s General Hospital.
