A shocking reveal of last week’s Cliffhanger Friday changes took fans by surprise. Austin Holt lied there lifeless as he bled from a gunshot wound. Someone shot Dr. Austin Holt and left him for dead. Was it Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober)? Or maybe Nikolas Cassadine? Hey, what about Ava Jerome (Maura West)?

Many had hoped that Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth), or that if he died then Roger could return as someone else. Sadly, neither of those ideal scenarios came true. Austin and his lollipop 🍭 licking cousin Mason have been up to no good. The difference is that Mason is seemingly rotten to the core while Austin has been forced by Cyrus. So if Mason is the real bad guy and Austin was forced to go along for the ride, then justice didn’t come through. Instead, Mason gets off with a slap on the wrist with a trip to Pentonville. Meanwhile, Austin, a doctor, winds up dead.

We are sad to see both of these actors and their roles go. Fans truly felt that Roger would return in a new role as he’s been notoriously known for role switch ups on GH. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. And as for Mason, the door was left open for Nathanyael and Mason to return.

According to General Hospital recaps, Ava and Austin hit it off as friends before things quickly became physical. But that’s when threats escalated and there wasn’t time for any type of messing around in any aspect. So, was Ava and Austin’s encounter a “one and done” situation?

GH rumors tease that Austin can’t be trusted but he’s also not purely a bad guy. Instead, he’s been forced into this by family. Cyrus and Austin’s pasts are tied together and it seems like Cyrus uses that fact as leverage. Now that we know that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) pulls the strings, it’s easier to see that Austin truly cares about Ava and doesn’t want to engage in Cyrus and Mason’s games. But Austin remains dishonest with Ava about the most important element of this entire situation. Not until Laura Spencer told Ava about Nikolas Cassadine’s bank activity did she think that her ex was alive. She eels to be in the dark about some important facts that could either keep her safe or risk her life.

Over at Wyndemere, Ava Jerome (Maura West) collects her thoughts. She’s finally alone for the night and can kick back when she’s interrupted by an unwanted guest. Then, Mason appears right before her eyes! Well, we can assure you that he didn’t whisk her off her feet and head to Paradise. But we do have an inkling that if Mason chooses differently, Ava will be dead.
