Steve Burton’s return has been nothing short of incredible for the majority of General Hospital fans. Based on GH fan reactions across social media, Steve Burton’s return debut continues to receive raving reviews.

Yesterday, Steve Burton received the warmest of welcomes when he debuted as Jason Morgan. According to GH news, Burton was hired to play Jason Quartermaine in 1991. Fans were drawn to his portrayal of the preppy- rich-kid-turned mob enforcer. Unfortunately, Burton left GH in 2012, but returned in 2017. Then, he was let go from the soap opera in 2021 due to a covid vaccine mandate. Needless to say its been one big roller coaster for GH fans.

Steve Burton Reveals How Jason Morgan’s Storyline Changed Course

Thankfully, prayers were answered when his surprise return was announced. Fans immediately began to speculate about how Jason would be reintroduced to the canvas. According to the latest GH news and spoilers, Burton revealed the decision for Steve to return came before the recent writer switch. As a result, Jason’s storyline took a different direction.

GH spoilers reveal that Burton opened up to Soap Opera Digest about his storyline. “So apparently there was a whole different story planned and then the head writer switch happened and then they kind of rebooted (the story arc). I know Patrick (Mulcahey, one of the new head writers) a little bit, but I really know Elizabeth Korte (who was promoted to co-head writer).” Burton disclosed to the news outlet.

“There’s no one in the building that loves that show, knows the history of the character, and is invested in it 100 percent than Elizabeth. There has never been a more deserved promotion, ever. Once I know that she was (one of the head writers), I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be good! I cannot wait.’ And it has been exactly that. Everything has been amazing.”

It sounds like Steve is just as excited about his comeback as the rest of us! His faith in the new writing team gives hope for an exciting future at General Hospital.

Well my friends, today is March 5th, 2024. The last two months have felt like forever since we found out about Steve. On January 4th, 2024, ABC’s General Hospital surprised fans with the best post-Christmas gift. Steve Burton appeared unexpectedly alongside Kelly Monaco and Laura Wright. For the first time in over three years, Sam, Jason, and Carly were all together on screen. Right then and there we all knew that meant that Jason Morgan was set to return!

Fast forward and the day has come and gone. March 4th has been the most anticipated daytime television event in recent times, and now it’s over. General Hospital recaps highlight the best Monday in GH history. Steve Burton returned on screen as Jason Morgan. Fans have hoped and prayed for his return since his 2021 GH exit. Thankfully, our prayers were answered.

That’s when Dex really saw another side of Sonny. Suddenly, things looked differently to Dex ever since he realized that Sonny has a genuine heart.

According to GH recaps, Sonny made a comment to Dex. It was in the heat of their Pikeman conversation when Sonny verbally expressed that he was impressed by Dex. First, he asked for Dex’s input on the Pikeman situation which lead to his impeccable attention to detail. Then, Sonny was pleased at how through Dex’s thought process was. He said, “Damn. Turned you on and you just go.”

It seems to me that Sonny is starting to notice little things about Dex. And sooner than later he begins to realize something. According to GH spoilers, Dex reminds Sonny of Jason. He begins to notice similarities between his new enforcer and his life-long friend.
