Maurice Benard is a three-time Daytime winner for his role as Sonny Corinthos on ABC’s General Hospital. Benard joined the Soap Opera in August of 1993. Since then Port Charles has never been the same. Organized crime has become an ongoing problem on the local and even Federal level.

The Port Charles Police Department has their work cut out for them when it comes to PC’s most prominent mob boss. When he first arrive in 1993, Sonny was law enforcement’s number one priority. Today, the fact remains that Sonny gives the authorities a run for the money. He’s been arrested and detained, and even put on trial. But the PCPD and the Feds have yet to stick the landing.

Not too long ago, Ava Jerome (Maura West) came to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for help. Luckily for her she happens to be the mother of Sonny’s daughter, Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola). Like all of Sonny’s baby mama’s, he respects and honors their position in his life, regardless of whether or not he’s still with them romantically.

When Sonny agreed to help Ava, that ultimately opened the door to a floodgate of various vulnerabilities. Now he finds himself in the middle of a mob situation. And just like old times, Port Charles mobster Sonny needs Carly (Laura Wright) by his side.

According to GH spoilers, Sonny has a major setback when Cyrus Renault’s plan takes effect. Naturally, Carly agreed to help Sonny, but under one condition. She said that she’d help just so long as harm wouldn’t come Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) way.

Now, Drew’s life hangs in the balance and Carly needs someone to blame. She falls for Cyrus’s trap, hook, line, and sinker. Because now that Carly blames Sonny for Drew’s attack, the strength of their bond weakens Sonny’s chances. Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has Sonny right where he wants him.

And as the good friend Nina is, she continues to help Valentin by keeping Anna and even Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) from the truth. Or, the truth as Nina and Valentin see it.

While it looks like Charlotte is jealous that Anna will take Papa’s love and affection, sharp-as-a-tac fans recall that Jake was kidnapped by Helena Cassadine and seemingly brainwashed. Then, the storyline fell off and never developed. It might be too obvious for Charlotte to be the culprit. Instead, recent GH rumors speculate that Jake may have something to do with it. Is it possible that the effects of Helena’s programming has come out in Jake?

Finally, Valentin landed his lady love. Despite all of the WSB and Cassadine, and mob drama, Valentin and Anna remained strong for themselves and one another. But things started to fall out of place for this tragic couple when Valentin’s secrets began to drop one by one.

According to General Hospital spoilers, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) continues to help Valentin cover up what they think Charlotte has done. His daughter Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) seems like a sweet, yet troubled girl. Understandably, as Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) haven’t been the most present parents for one reason or another.

Whether it’s by choice or terrible circumstance, Charlotte has been tossed around to any and every extended family member. She showed troubling tendencies from an early age, and on a few occasions. Immediately, her behavior became scrutinized and compared her behavior to her grandmother’s. Yes, the dark Queen herself, Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers).

As a result of all the chaos, Valentin breaks up with Anna for her own good. Despite his love for her, he has to let her go. In fact, it’s because of Valentin’s love for Anna that he breaks things off. GH spoilers and rumors tease that the risk is just too high, and he’s not willing to take it.

As tributes for Billy Miller continue to pour in, Maurice Benard’s outreach contains a powerful message. Ultimately, mental health awareness is a way of life for the three-time Daytime Emmy winner. While many tributes displayed the most genuine love and support, Maurice Benard takes things to a more serious level, and touches on the issue at hand.

Benard’s YouTube series, State of Mind, allows for open dialogue about life and mental health. As a bi-polar disorder sufferer, Miller’s death hit very close to home for General Hospital’s leading man. Since the pandemic I have been speaking out on Suicide quite a lot, in the beginning, I was hesitant, I didn’t know how people would handle it. But it’s been very encouraging so I have not stopped talking about it!!! It’s hard to really understand Mental illness unless you have experienced the depths of pain that comes with it. This is a @mbstateofmind i did about two months ago but there’s many. And I promise you there will be many many more to come if you know anyone who is going through any kind of darkness, chaos, pain. Just know, all you can do is give them love, patience, understanding, and hopefully Professional help if they agree. And unfortunately, if someone doesn’t want to be on this earth anymore, there’s only so much we can do just remember, it’s not your fault never blame yourself

What is the one thing Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) hates the most? Other than grocery store pasta sauce, Sonny hates lies above all. Because with lies there is betray. And where there is betrayals there’s broken trust.

Rarely, Sonny will give someone another chance after they’ve broken his trust. Despite the fact that he stands firmly behind honestly and loyalty, Sonny finds himself giving out second chances to those who have betrayed him. For starters there’s Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Fans still can’t believe that he was so easy on her after he figured out that she kept him captive and let his wife and family think he’s dead.

Moreover, he claimed to be in love with her on top of it all! Like, what?! ????????‍♀️ Additionally, Sonny’s forgiven his son Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), and even Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) after wearing the wire. Plus, there’s more where that came from. Point being that, Sonny may talk a big game, but he does give people second chances. Even third.

Nina Lies (Again) and Loses Sonny (For Good)

According to recent GH spoilers, Nina might need a millionth chance with Sonny after she tacks on yet another lie. One of my favorite lyrics from a song states, “all the walls have ears my darling, and all bad things get known. And I know about you.” That song is called, “I Know About You,” by Dashboard Confessional.

General Hospital spoilers indicate that Nina’s lies will eventually come to light and reach Sonny’s ears. Expectedly, GH rumors tease that Sonny doesn’t take too well to Nina withholding information regarding his friend Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). In addition, what she did to Carly and Drew is unthinkable.

It seems to me that Sonny is starting to notice little things about Dex. And sooner than later he begins to realize something. According to GH spoilers, Dex reminds Sonny of Jason. He begins to notice similarities between his new enforcer and his life-long friend.

As it turns out, first impressions truly tell a large part of someone’s overall being. That said, everyone who instinctively saw Mason’s creepy vibe is correct. His involvement with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) says it all.

According to GH spoilers and rumors, Ava could be left with one less problem if Cyrus has Mason killed. After all, as far as Cyrus is concerned, someone has to pay for the botched FBI sting with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

This past weekend feels like a whirlwind. But Billy’s family, especially his mother, feel the pain of losing Billy quite directly.

According to the latest GH news updates, Billy Miller’s Mom issues a statement on her son’s death. In her message to fans, Patricia disclosed the following, “I would like to share the following thoughts,” Patricia wrote. “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ — Billy Miller.

He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”

As you know, General Hospital’s Maurice Benard also suffers from bipolar disorder. He’s a strong advocate for mental health awareness and Billy’s death is a reminder to so many that this disease claims lives. Sadly, Billy’s bipolar became too much. We are deeply saddened by the news and continue to pray for Billy’s family.

Out of all of Sonny’s ex-wives and lovers, I’d have to say that Carly [Corinthos] Spencer (Laura Wright) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) have the most grit. In fact, both women have displayed strong personalities with survival skills that are unmatched by most. Unlike Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and some other, weaker woman who have warmed Sonny’s bed- (or a crypt if you’re Ava), Carly and Ava know what it takes to survive in Sonny’s world. But only Carly has the loyalty.

GH recaps recall a pure Sonny and Carly moment when he asked for his ex-wife’s help. Although more cautious than her old self, Carly still agrees to step up for her ex-husband. Apparently, Ava Jerome (Maura West) forgets the sacrifices that it takes to help protect loved ones.

That said, GH spoilers tease that Ava overlooks Carly’s sacrifice. Despite the fact that Ava ultimately benefits from Carly’s loyalty to Sonny, she had the nerve to give Carly a hard time. Because by agreeing to help Sonny, Carly helps protect his and Ava’s daughter, Avery. There’s no doubt that Carly wouldn’t do what it takes to protect a child. Even if that means not only helping her ex, but also helping one of his ex-lovers.

For me, the same goes for television and music. Almost all of today’s top 40 pop songs contain music samples from the past. So when you hear this fresh sound with a familiar twist, you kinda feel right at home. Well, that’s how it is for me when my faves from the past return.

I started watching General Hospital in the 1990s like many of you. And I can honestly say that this era seems to have left the most permanent mark on GH fans. That said, do you remember the popular character, Karen Wexler, played by Cari Sheen? She was right there in the middle of heated storylines involving strip clubs, drugs, and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

It was the age of “The Island,” when Karen, Jason Quartermaine (Steve Burton), and Jagger Cates (Antonio Sabato Jr.) got stranded on an island. Moreover, it was the first jig storyline my pre-teen self really got into. And for that I will always remember and be grateful I beg and watching GH when I did.
