General Hospital’s Maurice Benard
Maurice Benard is a three-time Daytime winner for his role as Sonny Corinthos on ABC’s General Hospital. Benard joined the Soap Opera in August of 1993. Since then Port Charles has never been the same. Organized crime has become an ongoing problem on the local and even Federal level.
The Port Charles Police Department has their work cut out for them when it comes to PC’s most prominent mob boss. When he first arrive in 1993, Sonny was law enforcement’s number one priority. Today, the fact remains that Sonny gives the authorities a run for the money. He’s been arrested and detained, and even put on trial. But the PCPD and the Feds have yet to stick the landing.
Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) and her husband, Lenny (Rif Hutton) have taken Sonny/Mike Corinthos (Maurice Benard) in as an act of kindness. Although Lenny is apprehensive of “Mike’s” stay, he has been kind and generous in his own way.
Sonny has been showing erratic behavior in which Phyllis, the nurse, has recognized as a possible mental disorder. General Hospital spoilers reveal Sonny is headed straight for a manic episode. Sonny has been off his meds since he went missing and it’s starting to take its toll on his mental health.
General Hospital rumors claim Sonny’s actions after overhearing Phyllis and Lenny’s plan of action will raise smoke signals and could lead him back home. That necklace holds to key to Nina’s daughter’s identity, or so it seems. In an attempt to protect Nina from more heartbreak, Carly and Jax thought it would be best to not tell Nina that the other half of the necklace belongs to Nelle, which would indicate that her long lost daughter is not only Nelle Benson, but a woman she’ll never get to know even if she wanted to have that chance.

Ava Jerome (Maura West) waltzes into Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) home while Cary as freshly grieving what she believes to be the loss of her husband. Carly’s husband Sonny just so happens to be the father of Ava’s daughter Avery. Avery has been living with Sonny and Carly with visitation with her mom. Thing a aww dark and difficult and Ava used this opportunity to become high and mighty, claiming that now with Sonny gone, Avery is safer with her.
Although General Hospital fans are split in their opinion on whether Avery should stay with Carly (at least for now), or if she should leave with Ava. It looks like what’s about to happen will show fans clearly what ISN’T safe for Avery.

Mikey Jerome got his start at soap opera stardom when Frank Valentino cast Jerome on ABC’s, One Life To Live, after Jerome won the third season of the reality show, I Wanna Be A Soap Star. Mikey Jerome played Ted Osbourne back in 2006.
General Hospital news reports after Jerome’s 9 month stint on OLTL, he became a bartender in Hermose Beaxh where he was reintroduced to GH Executive Producer, Frank Valentini. The two reconnected, sparking his soap opera comeback. Mikey Jerome has a lot to say about how the life’s events lead him straight back to ABC. After going back and forth with mutual friend, Darlene, Jerome used the contact information given to him by Darlene and decided to reach out to Frank. He tells Soap Opera Digest, “He cast me on ONE LIFE and I think I was there for nine months total, doing two episodes a week or one episode a week here and there. She gave me his [information] so I could get in contact with him. I emailed him, and he called me back like 15 minutes later. He said, ‘You know, Mikey, Covid’s really tough right now, but I would love to get you back on ABC.’ I sent my information along and then [Casting Director] Mark Teschner emailed me and said, ‘Frank would love for you to do an audition,’ so I put the audition on tape, I sent it in, and a few weeks later, I found out I got the role.”
Jerome goes on to explain how the timing for this opportunity was just right since Covid has taken its toll on most Americans, including himself. He expressed his gratitude and excitement by explaining, “I was super-excited because I got let go from two jobs; I’m not working right now and I had just bought a house [before the pandemic], so I was like, ‘Wow, this is unbelievable, to get to work,’ and to act again was unbelievable, too. I was like, ‘What a great guy Frank is, man.’ When you’re in a dark moment, you lose both your jobs…. I try to stay positive, and this gave me a fulfilled sense of purpose and I’m just really appreciative.” When he reunited with Valentini at the studio, he had the chance to express his gratitude. “I just said, ‘Thank you. You’re making my dreams come true twice and I really appreciate that!’”
General Hospital news reports snagging this role on General Hospital means more to him than landing a job. Jerome reveales to Soap Opera Digest that his late mother, Kathy, was a huge fan of GH’s Sonny Corinthos and the actor who portrays the mobster, Maurice Benard. Jerome discloses, “Sonny was her all-time favorite,” Jerome smiles. “My mother passed away a little bit after I got done with ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and truth be told, the reason I went out for the SOAP STAR show is that me and my girlfriend watched GENERAL HOSPITAL, and while we were watching that show, a commercial for I WANNA BE A SOAP STAR came on. My girlfriend was like, ‘Mikey, you’ve been taking acting classes, you should go out for that,’ and that’s the whole reason that I went out for that show. A one in 10,000 chance! But we’d been watching Sonny, Maurice, for years!”

General Hospital spoilers reveal Benard’s secret project is currently underway with Benard as Director. Andrews and Buchanan work alongside each other in scenes Andrews described as, “playing detectives and we were all laughing our hearts out.” Andrews revealed that he is not at liberty to say much about this project, other than it is Maurice’s personal, secret, project, in which he is directing himself. Andrews goes on via Instagram to describe how it is being directed by Maurice. In an Instagram post, Andrews says, “All Maurice cares about is that the scenes are real and truthful,” he contributed in saying, “and I have never had so much fun…????, and describes the film as, “very Tarentinoesq.”
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) have a friendship for the ages. Nothing can come between this bond. Not even death. They have been and always will be there for each other, sticking right by one another’s side through life’s crazy journey.
