GH’s Executive Producer shares the news via Instagram, leaving a heartfelt message. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Leslie Charleson. Her enduring legacy has spanned nearly 50 years on General Hospital alone and, just as Monica was the heart of the Quartermaines, Leslie was a beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew. I will miss our daily chats, her quick wit and incredible presence on set. According to online resources, a number of falls contributed to Leslie Charleson’s developed lack of mobility. It was just a week ago when Charles took another fall and was hospitalized. One week later, she passed away. Leslie Charleson was 79 years old.
Leslie’s role as Chief of Staff, Jason and AJ’s mama, Alan’s wife, Tracy’s rival, and so much more will live on in General Hospital’s future. There’s much more story to be told from the Quartermaine mansion, where the family can honor the woman who held them all together.

Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) returned to Port Charles in March after having been presumed dead. His family suffered their loss and grieved for him yet another time. Some relationships have even been strained because of it. Sonny is outraged and Sam wasn’t sold at first. But despite all of the heartache, Jason and his mother remain close. There’s no doubt that Monica adores Jason, and he respects and loves his mama.
According to GH recaps, Jason and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) son Danny (Ashtyn Antonyzyn) relayed a message to Jason. He said that grandma Monica (Leslie Charleson) wasn’t well enough to make it to Chase and Brooklyn’s wedding. Additionally, Monica requested that Jason attends the wedding in her place. So it is respect for Monica, Jason agreed to represent his mother at the wedding.
Meanwhile, Detective Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brooklyn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) prepare for the biggest day of their lives. Close friends and family gather together to support the couple as they say I Do. There isn’t a soul in Port Charles who would object to this union, which ensure that no one will have to speak now or forever hold their peace. Apparently, Sonny shoots Dex and Jason takes a bullet for his son. Other GH rumors suggest that Danny is shot with a bullet that was intended for Dex. No matter how you slice it, the loves of Monica’s son, grandson, and possibly a second grandson are at risk.

According to his and Bradford’s event podcast, Burton became so emotional on set that he almost walked off during his scene. As it turns out, Jason really does have feelings! Ha! Just kidding.
