Dex replaces Jason with Sonny?! Sonny Corinthos is so many things to so many people. His loyalty extends to those who equally practice and display the same loyalty. If you’re in a position to mean something to Sonny and vice versa, then consider yourself lucky.

Evidently, Sonny makes such an impression that even some of his enemies end up as friends and more. One enemy in particular is Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). The junior gangster was born for this position, quite literally. When Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) found Dex, they were both sure they would bring Sonny down. Hence, Dex was once Sonny’s secret enemy. But despite his initial intentions, Dex spills his true feelings.

General Hospital recaps revisit Dex’s confession as he tells Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) what a Sonny now means to him. He explained, “I’ve never had anyone in my life like him. Don’t worry, we know what you’re thinking because we think that too. Why would anyone do that unless there’s more in it for them? Well, you’re not wrong to ask that question. And apparently, General Hospital rumors support fan suspicions. According to GH fan speculation and the latest GH rumors, there was definitely more in it for Dex. But at this point, it’s more than he’s been willing to admit. His dedication and eagerness to come through for Michael seems odd, especially since one of the job qualifications was having to risk his own life.

Over the years, his status as mob boss put his loved ones at risk. He and right hand man Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Both Sonny and Jason took issue with allowing the ones they love anywhere near the business. However, keeping family and the business separate is inevitably impossible. Sonny and Jason walked away from countless people they love in order to keep them safe. They’ve suffered great losses to tragedy as well as by choice in order to avoid further losses.

Michael’s plan to take down Sonny included using Dex as an informant. Michael advised Dex to do whatever it takes to earn Sonny’s trust. The ELQ Executive told Dex to get as close to Sonny as a son… oh the irony!
