Sonny Corinthos Then and Now
Sonny Corinthos has been a key character on General Hospital since 1993, played by Maurice Benard. A powerful mob boss in Port Charles, he balances ruthless business tactics with fierce loyalty to his loved ones. He has faced many challenges, including bipolar disorder, turbulent romances, and deadly rivalries. Despite his criminal ties, he remains devoted to family and friends. His complex nature makes him a fan favorite. Co-star Laura Wright, who plays Carly Corinthos, calls him “the mobster with a heart of gold,” capturing his mix of toughness and compassion.
Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) just laid it all out for her ex husband, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). She told it like it is, reiterating how things played out after his presumed death and return from Nixon Falls.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Carly can’t reason with sonny about the way he pushed his family aside in support of Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), the woman who kept Sonny away from his wife and kids and kept him all to herself. The Sonny Carly once knew and married 5 times is now a stranger.
General Hospital fans speculate that Carly is ready to move on. General Hospital spoilers indicate that after his argument with Carly, Sonny second guesses his recent decisions while Carly looks forward.
General Hospital previews and spoilers suggest that Carly could be ready to move on with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). In upcoming GH previews, Drew requests special treatment from his friend and owner of the Metro Court hotel. Will Carly be willing to extend specially privileges?
General Hospital news and spoilers have reported the 59 year old daytime drama has filmed it’s 15,000 episode. Previously the tribute episode was set to air on June 17th, it was then pushed back to June 20th, and now, due to news coverage in GH’s time slot, the celebratory episode will air on June 21st.
When General Hospital fans reflect on their favorite soap opera, they can’t help to think of some key players such as Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), along with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), The Quartermaine and Cassadine families, and so many more.
General Hospital news reveals discussions from a recent interview with Daytime Emmy winner and 7 time nominee, Laura Wright as General Hospital’s leading lady, Carly Corinthos.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Cleveland.com has acquired some inside information in Laura Wright’s take on the longevity and legacy of this iconic American soap opera. When asked to explain her take on GH’s impressive longevity, Wright explained, “It’s the fans and their love for the show. We’re really here because of them and their love for the characters, the stories and, gosh, the history.”
As a proud fan myself since the mid 1990’s, I feel honored and appreciated at the credit Laura has bestowed upon the fans.
When it comes to taking the risk, and “going there” regarding bold, realistic, raw, and controversial story lines, Laura feels the risk isn’t a threat [because], “those are stories that should be told. So, I don’t find it risky. I find it current and true to humanity. We’re just telling people’s stories. I don’t know if it’s risky to tell the Alzheimer’s story or the transgender story because we are reflecting people in the world today and I think that’s important.”
Are the days of soap operas numbered?
It’s true that General Hospital is one of only 4 remaining soaps on television, and the only daytime drama left on ABC after the cancellation of All My Children and One Life To Live back in the earlier 2000s. However, Laura has a bright outlook when faced with the question of whether or not she finds the days are numbered for the soap genre. Wright explains, “I think the future of daytime is strong with all the different platforms you can watch the show on. The fans love that they can get us anytime, whether it be on ABC or Hulu.” Thank God for all of that!
Carly Corinthos: Wife, Mother, Strong, Capable, and a true force to be reckoned with, all while loving to her fullest ability!
Laura Wright touches on her feelings for her character Carly, and what it’s like playing this passionate, strong, intense, and loving woman. When named a “force of nature,” Laura agreed. She went on to describe Carly. She said,“First of all, thank you. I agree, she is a force of nature. It’s amazing and exhausting to be Carly depending on the day because I’m also Laura and she has her life. It’s really interesting, the difference between playing in Carly’s world and being in Laura’s world. But it’s super fun and I love doing it. One of our writers explained Carly as the woman that everybody wants to be friends with and I was like, oh my God, I love that. It’s so true.”
General Hospital spoilers and reveal Laura has spilled the tea on what is ahead for Carly this Summer. She admits that many changes are in store for her character, and her developing relationship with Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is just the beginning.
Ultimately, Laura tells die hard fans exactly what they want to hear when asked about diving into another 15,000 episodes. She declared, “Hell yeah. Bring it on.”
Here’s to General Hospital’s 15,000 episodes and 15,000+ more!
Laura Wright and Cynthia Watros make Carly Corinthos and Nina Reeves hatred look natural and even instinctive. They do their job so well that General Hospital fans even believe they don’t get along off-screen.
General Hospital news and spoilers reports have revealed in the past that Laura and Cynthia are very good friends when Carly and Nina aren’t “screaming in each other’s faces,” Wright confessed in a recent YouTube segment on The Locher Room.
General Hospital spoilers reveal Cynthia and Laura popped in with The Locher Room to discuss their on-screen and off-screen relationships. When faced with everyone’s question regarding how Laura and Cynthia get through the anger and tension in their scenes as Carly and Nina, Emmy winner Laura Wright explained, “It’s being aware to separate,” Laura said, “and really drop it into when you want to go full on.” Laura continued to explain how she and Cynthia manage by adding, “You don’t want to so worry about the other person,” she added, “because you lose what you need to do for you [in the scene], so you trust that the other person has it figured out” as well as you have.
Ultimately, there is one ritual that seals the deal for ensuring these ladies maintain their close friendship and not let their roles and hating one another in a scene get in the way. Laura confessed, “the hug afterwards is so nice.”
Laura and Cynthia are always up for a game of pickle ball even if Carly and Nina are ready to push each other off a cliff.

General Hospital spoilers reveal Sonny questions his decisions to support Nina Reeves over his wife, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and kids, particularly his son Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). Carly told Sonny exactly how she feels about the man he as become since returning from Nixon Falls. The man she married 5 times is now a stranger.
General Hospital previews and spoilers indicate that Carly is ready to close her chapters with Sonny and move on while he dwells on his past. Carly and Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) friendship somewhat mimics her iconic friendship with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). She and Jason only started to develop and act on their feelings after many years of sharing an unbreakable bond. Even though Drew can’t replace Jason, maybe Carly will be able to take their friendship to a romantic level faster than she ever did with Jason.
